The movie itself is 155 minutes long, plus another 20 minutes (I'm guessing) for previews and other "stuff". So let's say 180 minutes - that's a nice "round" number. That's 3 hours even, and so that would give us approximately 30 minutes until the next show, which would mean we'd have to get right back in the (probably) huge line waiting to get into the theater. Sorry for going into a stream-of-conciousness mode, but I never really considered it before I started typing the message. My original aim was to say "sounds good to me!", but then I wondered how much time we'd have for dinner, and there we are. So... I like 3:55 idea - it would give us at least one matinee showing. A little easier on the budget. However, the next show after the 7:30 is at 10:05, which is kind of late... especially for people like Dave who will have to travel. What about seeing the 2:55 one? That will get us out of the theater at about 6, we'll have an hour for dinner (possible reservations so we don't have to wait 30 minutes for a table like last time?), and back in line with 30 minutes to spare. What do you think? I signed up for the whole day off work on the 15th and I would definitely head south if I could! Unfortunately my HP buddy from work and I can't both be gone from the office at the same time 8-(. She is the one that got me hooked in the first place. Everytime I come in with some new HP toy or news item she just shakes her head and says she has created a monster. I've told my family and friends that I plan on sitting through as many showings on the 15th as I can. Takes me back to my Star Wars days (the original movie) when my friends and I would spend all day in the theatre and watch it 4 times in a row. Haven't decided which theatre I will go to. There is one where I live and one right near where I work (Vallejo and Richmond). They are part of the same chain. I have looked on Fandango for the showtimes but they only show 4 times so I am confused. This movie is going to be so huge there is no way they are only going to have it on one screen in these big multiplexes. Are they only selling advance tickets for those 4 times or are they going to run it on multiple screens at the same time? That would be a logistical nightmare as far as crowd control and snack bar efficiency. Guess I will have to take my lunch break and actually go to the theatre and find out. I hate to have to do this, but I have to change my schedule. Robin can't make it to the first show, so we'll have to meet you all at dinner and catch the later show with you. If you like, Robin and I can get to Islands a good 15-30 minutes early so that we'll have a table actually *ready* when the movie gets out... and we'll just save it for everyone. Sound good? We'll have to know exactly how many people are coming to dinner, though. And we'll have to make Dave stay for dinner with us. ;) Should we come up with a name to give them so you can tell the host(ess) what table to go to? The (Mundungus) Fletcher table? ;) Jen, who right now is counting her 2, Laila, Pippin, Deb, and Susan. I was thinking of dressing up on that day to the theater but I do not know where all the "hardcore" Harry Potter fans will be. I'm sure fans are everywhere but I don't want to come dressed up to some megaplex only to be gawked at by teeny boppers who have nothing better to do on a Friday night and *casually decided* to see Chamber of Secrets that day--know what I mean? I would like to go to a theater that has HARDCORE HP fans. Do any of you have suggestions? I was thinking of going to a San Francisco theater at around the 7pm show. Please let me know your thoughts! Only 4 days! That reminds me. A couple of weeks ago, the dinner count stood at this: Me + Robin Rita + Tim Susan + Guest Deb Dave Pippin Laila That's 10. I'm thinking that we should make reservations in the next couple of days. Could someone for whom this is not a long distance call (i.e., someone in the LA area) do this? Anyone else coming? Anyone else bringing anyone? I might actually bring the hubby and kids to dinner (NOT to the movie... I doubt it would be a good idea to bring a nursing infant to a 3 hour long movie), but I have to check with him on that one more time. Don't know if Robin's husband is coming to dinner. Probably not.
