Questions & Observations

Hi:
Sorry -- I'll betray my technical incompetence with some of my
questions & thoughts:
1. What program am I missing to be able to read Anna's file? I
click
on it and my browser is prompting me to save it to my hard drive
rather than pulling it up. I suspect (although I've not tried it)
that if I did save it to my hard drive, I still would be without the
program needed to read the file. Help!
2. I like Heidi's suggestion of one of the FAQs addressing
"Predictions that were Made for Book 4." We can also have one for
"Predictions for Book 5" & so on.
3. It sounds to me like everyone is on the same page as far as which
posts are not going to be FAQ-necessary. I think it's just common
sense. (The "Hi, I've just joined" posts are a clear example; the
"open casket funerals" posts are similarly off-topic enough that we
can ignore them). I think we're looking for really big questions,
recurring themes, etc.
4. Paul -- your database of Frequently Recurring Themes -- should we
add to this or did you mean it to be a guideline for yourself? It
looked like you were indexing more messages than you were assigned.
So, I was confused. <g>
5. Deadlines -- well, I'm just worried that we need to get moving or
we'll need to all take another grouping of messages. <g> Can we say
a deadline for this initial work of August 25th (gives everyone a
little more than 2 wks)? Then, the Committee can set some
appropriate
deadlines amongst themselves for actually creating the FAQs.
6. Maintenance -- Good question Neil. Yikes. Any suggestions? I'm
wondering if we should have a "FAQ Maintenance Committee." Gads,
it's
starting to sound like a Dilbert cartoon with all these committees.
No, seriously, whoever wanted to could volunteer to periodically
update 1 or more assigned FAQs. We could rope Skimmel into updating
the "What to Read Next" FAQ for example.
7. Updating the Message Archive -- Paul, I'm just thrilled that you
did this! I think you should update it whenever it's convenient for
you. Maybe every 500 messages if possible? I don't know what's
involved.
8. Yahoo/egroups Merger -- I know nothing more. I do hope we'll get
the best of both worlds though.
9. MIA -- The following volunteers are still MIA from this board --
Simon, Joywitch999, Diann Recla, Scrimmers. Should we contact them
or
assume they'll show up soon? We also had another volunteer, and at
the rate UberPoster & myself are going, we could probably add Sheryll
(S_ings at yahoo.com). <g>
Have I raised more questions than I answered???
