"I like the idea of footnotes. I think Heidi's Geography FAQ is
handled appropriately though -- she has message #s after each
paragraph (Hogwarts, Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, the Burrow, etc.). In
other cases, it will make more sense to just have footnotes within the
text & the references all at the very bottom (end) of the FAQ."

I agree with this approach. However, for the casting FAQ, I won't be citing
messages that suggested an actor for a particular part (what a surprise),
I'll just list the suggestions. I'm only part way through the messages for
that one, but, apart from stuff on the film itself, the only substantial
topics seem to be 'American vs British actors/accents' and 'suitability of
child actors' (and JKR's involvement in casting, as I recall).

A quick progress report:

At the moment, I'm transferring relevant messages for each topic into
composite files before starting to put the FAQs together. I've been using
FORT (downloaded a few days ago) as a reference point, then free-searching
the .txt files for further information. With Character Accents, virtually
all the messages were picked up by searching, and I'm assuming most of the
relevant messages were in batches that hadn't been added to the FORT.

I haven't looked at the eGroups messages yet; I think I'll draft the FAQs
from the Yahoo files and then edit in the more recent information.

I'm leaving Snape until last, as it's so sprawling, and I doubt I'll get a
chance to look at it in depth until October (after next weekend, I'll have
to disappear under my Invisibility Cloak for a few weeks, I'm afraid, to
concentrate on my job).
