Editing function in files

Hi all --

I have a revised catalogue installment to upload but I seem to have 
lost the right to edit or delete documents I've uploaded previously, 
so I can't delete the version that's currently in the files (which I 
need to do first because the new version has the same name and 
therefore won't upload).  I can't simply rename my revised document 
because our network insists on identifying it by its number.  I could 
resave it using a new name but it's very hard to delete documents 
from the network, so I'd rather continue to use the existing document

Can someone help me out?
