I am very heavily involved with several projects at the moment and I have practically no free time. Also I cannot in any way guarantee that come April I will be any less busy and, in fact, I would not be surprised to find out that I am even busier then. I am totally lost on my FAQs. I have not looked at them for ages. I have read few group messages in the last 2 months, occasionally skimming through to see what is being discussed. At the moment the most updated FAQs I have written are only updated to about message number 15,000 - this is about half the total number of messages written. I am guessing that it has come to the stage where, to be fair to the project, this group and HPfGU as a whole, I must step down. If someone else is going to take over what I had been working on then they really should be got involved sooner rather than later (and probably I should have done said this a few months ago). It already is an incredibly long distance between my last update and the current messages on the group; this gap will only go up for the next few months, while I am busy doing other things. I am sorry about this, but I feel that I cannot dedicate the time to this project that it deserves or needs. Simon PS: On the good side I learnt today that I probably have a weeks work shadowing/experience soon :) From pennylin at swbell.net Fri Jan 18 22:15:45 2002 From: pennylin at swbell.net (Penny & Bryce) Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 16:15:45 -0600 Subject: [HP4GU-FAQ] RE: Faqs References: Message-ID: <3C489E91.7090404@swbell.net> Hi everyone -- Thanks for the update Simon, and I'm guessing there are others of us in your situation. I think it makes sense to try & farm out some of the unfinished FAQs, perhaps giving them to a larger number of people. As you'll remember, when we started this project, most of us ended up taking on 8-10 FAQs, which is quite a burden. I recall that I was editing some of Simon's FAQ drafts this past summer and then got sidetracked myself. IIRC, the Lord Voldemort FAQ was largely ready to be uploaded with my edits. There hasn't been much substantive discussion to that topic in the last 6 mths I wouldn't think so .... it could probably be tidied up quickly. As for the Harry FAQ ... I think that's the big one that was on Simon's plate & probably in need of some updates. I'll have to check the database & see what else Simon had that wasn't finished or in some form ... actually I think they were *all* in some form, weren't they Simon? If everyone will give me an update or status report as well as a realistic & frank appraisal of their willingness/ability to do their FAQs, I'll take charge of re-parceling out the undone ones to some fresh blood. For example, it appears that Gwen & Amanda are running with the Snape FAQ, a lovely thing IMO. Amy says she has Lupin under control & it will be ready soon. There are a couple (maybe 3-4) FAQs that are basically ready but haven't ever been "coded" or "HTML'ized" or whatever needs to be done to get them up on the FAQ site. Speak up! :--) Penny From sjbranford at tiscali.co.uk Sat Jan 19 19:21:39 2002 From: sjbranford at tiscali.co.uk (Simon) Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 19:21:39 -0000 Subject: [HP4GU-FAQ] Digest Number 183 In-Reply-To: <1011466874.328.76681.m12@yahoogroups.com> Message-ID: Penny: >I'll have to check the >database & see what else Simon had that wasn't finished or in some form >... actually I think they were *all* in some form, weren't they Simon? Yep I think so. To my knowledge my FAQs go as follows (and if any others were on my list then I have never looked at them): Animal Characters - Updated to message number 15,000 and on the website Dursley Family - Updated to message number 15,000 and on the website Wands - Updated to message number 15,000 and on the website Weasley Family - Updated to message number 9,575 and in the files here Predictions for books 5, 6 & 7 - Club messages only and on website Lord Voldemort - Updated to message number 9,575 and on the website Harry - Updated to message number 9,000 and in need of editing. Hope this helps. All drafts are in the files section of this group, some also have the versions Penny has been through and edited. Simon
