Thanks for the clarification, Heidi.  I'm wondering if perhaps we 
ought to make this known so that people don't try to join the group 
only to have their application rejected.  Perhaps we could add into 
Abigail's message (and on the group's home page) something 
like:  "Please note that you do not have to join the group in order 
to post.  In fact, in order to keep the archives list manageable and 
nominations confidential, we are limiting membership to the Fantastic 
Post Owls team."
