Oh. Ok. I'll play.

>>Real name:
Melody Timpani
(yes, I have amusing parents...)
>>Also known as:
Eh...in RL?
Mel
Melmel (my brother's for me)
Lodi (my dad's for me. Took me years to figure out where he got it
from. I can be a bit slow sometimes. ::grin::)
And a cute name given to me by my boyfriend that I am too shy to tell.
a few others but these are used on a regular basis.
>>Age/Sex:
25/F (26 on Monday :D )
>>Birthplace/Livingplace:
Houston, TX. Living presently in Denton, TX (right above DFW) but do
not want it to be that present much longer.
>>Family Life:
Single. No children. Living off by myself right now and enjoying
myself. But I do have a boyfriend, which is rare in my life actually
and a recent development. I am in that giddy, happy stage of the
relationship right now, so be warned. :) Mostly because he does not
live near me, and he is coming here to stay with me for about two
weeks for my birthday, so I am beyond ancy in anticipation.
Sickening, isn't it? I apologies to Tabouli and Elkins now for
whatever I violate in their "love" rant. Sometimes, you just can't
help but be a silly girl no matter how educated you are.
Oh, and two cats. One 2 years old named Oren. He is 13 pounds. The
other is six years old and named Pyrac. He is 25. I swear he is not
fat, he is just big boned. ;) My dad and brother call him Big
Country. Anyway...
>>Personality:
Eh. I am a Melancholy by nature. I tend to turn things over in my
head way to much, and sometimes be a bit overly moody. Sorry. To
counter that, I am also Choleric so it is an interesting match.
>>Words friends have used to describe you:
Oh dear: Playful. Honest. Precise. Intense. Exhausting.
Organized. Carries secrets behind her eyes. (that one I always found
odd, but liked it.)
>>Words you have used to describe you:
Playful. Blunt. Watchful. Passionate. Moody. Deeply happy despite
the moods. (which confuses everyone that is not melancholy.)
>>Things you do when not staring at the computer:
Um well. Only way my boyfriend and I can see each other is through
the internet right now, so well...weekends are spent on the computer.
For like 12 hours. (yes he adores HP, and no I will not answer any
more questions ::grin::) We are in different time zones, so it is
fun to work out. Anyway...he takes up a lot of time right now, but
what I *should* be doing is my thesis. But well...I have been putting
it off for two years now. I know, I know. I should finish it. I
will explain below in "education". So when I am not on the computer
right now in my life, which is not often, I am either watching TV,
reading a book, talking to my parents in Houston, rearranging my
apartment (I love moving furniture and organizing things), or some
other odd thing like a puzzle, coloring, or cutting out paper dolls
(you know mindless things to rest or let your mind wander without
restriction).
>>Comfort foods:
Um. I am not a big fan of eating. I am not sick or anything, I just
am a skinny little thing who does not find eating enthralling. I eat
when I have to, but if I am sad, hm....I guess I eat milk chocolate
more. Like candy bars. Or ice cream treats like Dove bars. That I
will say. I love Godiva chocolate.
>>Education/Work:
Undergrad school was spent as a history major, and I adored it.
Graduate school I am still technically in. I am working on a clothing
and textile major, which I want to use to be a costume curator. That
person in the museum that gets to play with all the things you are not
suppose to touch. I want to do that with clothing. I adore the 19th
century. Especially the bustles. Oh, the books and pictures I could
show you. Been studying it since I was eight with paper dolls and
history books. I was always the non-fiction type of girl.
But the reason I am still in school is that all I have left is my
thesis. No hugely specific reason why. I just have not finished it.
Not motivated I guess. Hoping to remedy that soon.
So in the mean time, since I was not born to privilege, I have been
working in a radiology office as a secretary for the past two years.
I know. Woohoo. But in my defense, at the time I took the job, I did
not intend to stay there so long. Hoping to remedy that soon too.
So maybe in the end, I will become a curator. Maybe not. We shall see.
>>Language skills
English.
Learning more Spanish lately.
And can read ancient Greek. Took the courses in college because
everyone told me it will be hard. Well, I thought. I was accpeted as
smart enough to go to college, so it seems to reason I am smart enough
to do this if I want too. I just had to proven them wrong in that I
could do it. Really after learning Greek and their circular way of
talking, it is so much easier to learn other languages. They seem so
simple. But I loved it, and use my New Testament in Greek to trump
all those boys in my Sunday school class at church. It is so fun to
watch their eyes pop when I pull that baby out. I know. It is church
and I should behave, but I can still derive a little pleasure from it
even if I use it for teaching purposes only. I swear. :)
>>Technical know-how:
Eh. I can do a little bit of things, but I figure, why know something
if I can ask and make a guy feel like he is useful? So I defer to my
dad, brother, or boyfriend a lot. Just to make them feel loved and
needed. :)
>>Favourite HP book:
Honestly, PoA. It is just too fascinating...even without MD.
>>Favourite HP character(s):
Ok honestly. I identify with a combination of Ginny and Sirius. I
know. That combination can be very scary. Well with Ginny, I was
always the girl with the crush on a boy but never getting it in return
(until lately ::blush::) I spent my school years crushing, but never
doing anything about it. I would do precisely what she did. Shriek
and run away. Took me growing up to discover a guy finds that odd.
The nerve of them. :P
The Sirius part is the melancholy, passionate side of me. I get him
completely. From the dementors, to the holding on to the few truths
you know when everything is falling apart, to the passion that keeps
him alive and taught him how to love so deeply. For that, I identify
with him greatly.
So between the two of them, I also identify with their defensive
nature. They defend that which they care deeply about. And if you
cannot tell, I love to defend people and things I care about. :)
So I like them the most I guess. Because in them I find me.
Oh and on a side note since I never talk about ships: I really hope
Ginny does not get Harry. No girl should get her first crush. You
learn so much from not getting them that is it worth the heartache.
But that is again, my melancholy view on life.
>>Favourite HP line
Cindy wrote:
>Uh, haven't read the books in over a year, so I don't remember.
Teehee. Oh, I do not feel bad now. I have not sat down and read
through all four since I joined the site in August. Hmm. let me
think....well it is not funny but my favorite is a combination from
the Shrieking Shack in PoA....
"Give me a reason," he (Snape) whispered. "Give me a reason to do it,
and I swear I will."
-and to be matched with the same passion-
"Believe me," croaked Black. "Believe me, Harry. I never betrayed
James and Lily. I would have died before I betrayed them."
I guess I love those two quotes so much because they were honest, raw,
and I can see their eyes perfectly when they say it.
>>Watching/Avoiding the HP movies?:
I watched both and have both DVD's. Though I have not watched them
much. I enjoy seeing the imagery of it. But I do fear what they will
do to PoA. But I will say, Tom Riddle on the stairs is worth watching
CoS. Damn. That was sexy. Jason Isaac too. I never really cared
about Lucius until I saw that stately man step on the screen. Also I
have a thing for capes. :D
>>Into HP fanfiction?
Not at all. I do not refuse to read them to be a canon purest, but
more, I do not want to confuse JKR with someone else's work. I have
been incredible patient for OoP though. I have been a bit distracted
I guess.
>>Books you'd recommend to just about anyone:
I adore J.D. Salinger's short stories. Not Catcher in the Rye mind
you, which is ok. Franny and Zooey are my favorite. I guess because,
again, they are a big side of me. I do not recommend him much,
because I hate to see people not get what I get. I adore Pride and
Prejudice too. Like a good, single, educated 25 year old female. :)
To be honest, I just do not read much fiction. I read classics or
highly recommended books. My entire family read HP from the first
book, but I stubbornly held out till one Thanksgiving when I sat down
bored and picked it up. As we all know, the books are highly
addictive. "Like crack," Jason Isaac said I think. I read the first
two the first day, and started the third the next, but had to leave
before finishing. I made a beeline to the bookstore the next day and
bought all four without regret.
>>Favorite TV shows?
Gilmore Girls. I like the last four contestant time of American Idol.
(Clay Aiken is a cd I will buy.) History channel. The Czars of
Russia was on last week.
>>Favorite movies:
Beauty and the Beast. Disney style.
Ever After.
Dangerous Beauty.
See a trend? It disturbs me how girly I can be. But really, all
those heroines are not the sleeping beauty/snow white variety. They
all have their own spirit and fierceness. I could go into more, but
this is getting long and I don't think you want to know me *that* well.
>>One thing about your life you'd change if you could you may not
>>say "lose weight."
Hehe. Well. I have never even weighed enough to give blood, so that
is not a problem I have. I am not sure. My life is not that old yet.
I do not regret things, because they make me who I am today, and I
like me.
>>One thing about your life you wouldn't change even for an advance
>>copy of Book 7:
I have sucked my thumb all my life. I would not change it for
anything. Before I said that food does not sooth me. Well that is
because my thumb does. It helps me calm down and think.
Whew. Now that I have confessed that, I might start using it to think
in tbay. My character is already about six or seven years old anyway,
so I think I can get away with it without too many eyebrows.
>>Philosophy for an easy life:
It is only as fun as you make it.
>>How you found HPfGU:
Bored one day having no one to chat HP with. I was on Leaky Cauldron
and flipped through the links out of desperation. Never been on a
chat site before. Only one I have even been on. I posted my first
day because I told myself that if I was going to join, I had to play.
Thanks for letting me play.
>>Active at other HP sites:
Nope. Never gone looking either. I like this one. All I need.
>>Your most rock solid OoP prediction:
Oh dear. Rock solid? Well I never theorize to be right. I just talk
my mind and reasoning and they come out.
Besides, I defend MD for the fun of it, and it is easier to side with
Pip and Grey than fight them. :P
Love you, Pip (and Grey). :)
But it would be fun if it came true.
>>Members of the fandom you have personally met:
Alora: she lives near me here went to see COS the movie together
and recently when I was on a trip to the HP motherland of England:
Grey Wolf
Pip
GulPlum
David
Truly fun time too with the five of us. And no, MDDT did not plot to
over through tbay. :D
>>Add a question of your choosing and answer it:
Oh good lord. Like I know what y'all want to know about me.
Hmmm...oh alright.
Did I have a happy childhood?
Yes. Immensely. I have amazing parents and a dear brother. Who is
getting married on June 21st and preventing me from reading OoP
uninterrupted, and yet I still adore him. Hmmm....now that is love.

she thinks people care- to her list of traits. :)
