Hi,
Phyllis:
>Are we still waiting to
> hear from Naama?
Uh, kinda.
I sent my first message asking her to join and heard nothing. I
followed up about whether she received the message. She replied with
essentially, "Yes, I got it. I assumed you had sent it to everyone
on the list."
I replied with, "Oh, no, maybe around 8 people were invited. So how
about it?"
That was a few days ago, and I've heard nothing since. So, er, I
guess that's that.
>Do we still want to recruit a few more good men?
Good question.
My rough review of the team list suggests we have maybe 16-18 people
who have indicated an interest in writing FAQs (as opposed to tech
work). That's probably enough for now. Heck, if we can't get some
FAQs out the door with a team of this size . . . dang!
I've been mulling Abigail's thoughts about how we should structure
things, and I agree on all counts, I think. Having all of us work on
one or two things would be unworkable, probably.
But if we broke up into teams of 4-6 people, we could tackle four FPs
at a time. One benefit of doing that would be the natural, robust,
healthy and friendly competition that might nudge us all into writing
more quickly. Heck, we could even have *team names* to help bolster
school spirit! ;-)
So. What do you all think?
Next, there is Amanda's idea of doing sequential updates --
preserving the old FAQs and appending updates rather than modifying.
I believe Amanda is going to flesh that proposal out a bit. Maybe we
can consider the staffing issues now and take up the mechanics when
Amanda has posted on that subject?
Then, if we do decide to work on a limited number of FPs, there is
the rather significant matter of deciding which FPs should be done
first. I would imagine that some of this will depend on what happens
in OoP. If Hermione dies as Brian and I alone seem to be eagerly
anticipating, I guess she would be a priority. But maybe some
preliminary discussion wouldn't hurt.
I'll go out on a limb and predict that Harry will figure prominently
in OoP. ;-) That suggests that we might want to make the Harry FP a
priority.
If Harry occupies Slot Number One, then Hagrid might be Slot Number
Two? What about Slot Three and Slot Four, though? Thoughts?
And remember, none of this is carved in stone. We're just thinking
out loud. So please, please, weigh in with your thoughts, especially
if you disagree.
