From editor at texas.net Sun Mar 9 06:09:09 2003 From: editor at texas.net (Amanda Geist) Date: Sun, 9 Mar 2003 00:09:09 -0600 Subject: Hey, Ron and Weasley FAQ-ers Message-ID: <002901c2e602$66e06420$c504a6d8@texas.net> I just got an offlist from a shy little newbie who saw my post on "Charlie's No. 2" and wanted more leads on the Missing Weasley Child theory, and the related, remote Ron is a Seventh Son theory. Imagine my surprise when I went to the Ron Weasley FAQ and found not a whisper of the 7th son thing. I hied over to the Weasley Family FAQ and found a brief mention in a paragraph under "Ages of the Weasley Family Members," but with no footnote to a thread-link. The 7th son thing was never a major thread, but the Missing Child theory has been revisited over the eons and shows up on Cindy's polls (doesn't it?); I just found it odd that there was no link to any posts. Or maybe I'm just clueless and missed it. Anyway, can the responsible parties (Neil, Simon) give me any help in finding the old threads for this person? I mean, do you have any organized material at hand that you can give me, rather than me having to sit here for hours uncounted, dealing with the Search Engine from Hell? Thanks, Amandageist, who finds this being nice to people thing rather time-consuming From elfundeb at comcast.net Sun Mar 9 12:12:26 2003 From: elfundeb at comcast.net (elfundeb2) Date: Sun, 09 Mar 2003 12:12:26 -0000 Subject: Hey, Ron and Weasley FAQ-ers In-Reply-To: <002901c2e602$66e06420$c504a6d8@texas.net> Message-ID: --- In HP4GU-FAQ at yahoogroups.com, "Amanda Geist" wrote: > I just got an offlist from a shy little newbie who saw my post on "Charlie's > No. 2" and wanted more leads on the Missing Weasley Child theory, and the > related, remote Ron is a Seventh Son theory. > That's another job for the Catalogue -- I did a quick check and you can point this newbie to the following posts: 37329, which contains links back to earlier Seventh Son threads (one of which itself is a reference list of very early Seventh Son posts); and 40168 (Elkins' revised Arthur with Imperius theory). Also, 37329 is part of a very long thread on the topic that begins at post 37254. You're right, these FPs are sadly in need of an update. I wrote the original Weasleys FAQ, but have not been involved with FAQing for quite a while. When I was last involved there were around 15,000 messages on the main list. I would guess that this is roughly 18 months ago. Consequently I no longer have anything FAQ related. As far as I know nothing on either of the above topics had been mentioned while I was FAQing. If it had I am sure it would be in the FAQ. I believe that both are reasonably new topics and personally I point my finger at certain fanfics which touch on one, either or both issues. If we go by the Catholic schedule (and why not, I ask?) then April would be yellow/lavendar/pink for Easter -- perhaps we should commemorate Ostara instead with deep red? :-) May is most definitely blue for its various Marian connotations -- but you could do a blue/periwinkle/lilac thing since actual lilacs do bloom in May. ~Porphy, color-mad From cindysphinx at comcast.net Tue Mar 11 22:53:12 2003 From: cindysphinx at comcast.net (Cindy C.) Boy, I'll bet Porphyria's house is actually color coordinated and everything! ;-) As for me, I have no ability to decorate anything. In fact, the window covering in front of me here in my office consists of two tattered bath towels to keep the sun out of my eyes. I'll bet the neighbors are impressed. So going by the Catholic schedule, we should now be in Porphyrian purple. Unless you follow the Sarum (Salisbury) tradition, as the local parish church here does, using blue for penitential periods. I'm about to have my own colour crisis as I'm going to have our bedroom done. I'm afraid I've indulged in co-ordinated bedcovers and curtains (isn't that naff?) and I can't decide what colour to do the walls. But I've got loads of old curtains, Cindy.... ~Eloise Wondering if we shouldn't ask Porphyria to perfume the FAQ office with a virtual smell of the month. Lilacs will likely not be out for us until the rest of you are finished with summer. We are currently in the midst of the season commonly referred to as 'still winter'. If you'd like to do it, just create a new Excel file, cut 'n paste the segments, and call it Addendum_01.xls or something like that. The Ron FAQ was based only messages from the original Yahoo group and the very earliest messages from eGroups (aka the current YahooGroups), probably to about February 2001, so if no one else has taken it on, the Ron FAQ has not been updated for two years now. For a while, topics did repeat, but quite a few new and inventive ideas have hit the lists in the last two years and would not be reflected at all.
