I've just added a very special new feature to my Harry Potter website, www.wizardingwireless.net. It is a Wizard to Muggle Currency Converter. I know, there is another one of these out there on the net, but mine is better because: a) It can convert to and from British Pounds, not just Dollars, b) it's more accurate, repeated conversions back and forth do not lose accuracy because of gross rounding and c) it's not associated with a commercial site and you're not bombarded with ads when you want to access it.
The exchange rate in the currency converter is based on the prices of the little Comic Relief books, which are listed at 3.99 US, 2.50 UK, and both also say they cost 14 sickles and 3 knuts.
Wonder what your yearly salary or allowance would be in Galleons, Sickles and Knuts? Or how about that dinner you bought last night? How much would that cost at the Leaky Cauldron? What's a fair tip for the attendant on the Knight Bus? Or how much does Dragon Liver cost in dollars and cents? Go to www.wizardingwireless.net, click on "Wizard to Muggle Currency Converter" in the left-hand column, and have fun!
