Hi,
For what it's worth, the March 2002 edition of "Locus: the
Newspaper of the Science Fiction Field" contains the following
information:
- p. 72: "Lest we forget, Scholastic still has not signed J.K.
Rowling for the fifth Harry Potter book. Barbara Marcus, president
of the Scholastic Children's Book Group, visited Rowling's agent
during a December 2001 trip to the UK, who told her that if asked,
Scholastic should continue to say it is Rowling's US publisher."
- p. 73: "In the meantime, Scholastic will release the paperback
edition of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" on Harry's birthday,
July 31, 2002, with an initial print run of 2.5 million copies,
bringing the total of Harry Potter books in print to 65 million."
- p. 39 (in the section covering forthcoming books through
Dec '02):
"ROWLING, J.K.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Scholastic/Levine,
Aug 2002 (ya, hc)"
ya - stands for young adult
hc - stands for hardcover
Aloha,
Cathy
(back to lurking, & reading digests and
fanfic)
