You can reread the rules there. If you've never participated in an FA fic or art challenge before, here's how you do it. 1. Read rules. 2. Write fic or create art 3. Post said fic or art to Challenge Forum as a NEW THREAD. Fic should be in the body of the post, and art should be posted according to the usual submission process. 4. We must approve ALL Challenge forum fic and art posts (need to make sure they aren't too risque, and in the case of fic, that they comply with the usual grammar & spelling rules). In other words, it might take between one and eighteen hours before it actually shows up on the thread. Don't submit more than once, please. 5. When we've checked it, it will be available for people to read & review. Enjoy! PumpkinPie.Org Announces Its Valentine's Day Grand Opening Harry/Hermione shippers of the fandom have long had no place to call their own. The founders of pumpkinpie.org are proud to present a website as an attempt to fill this void -- while being mindful to remain a friendly place that all members of the fandom will feel comfortable visiting. We see ourselves as a seaport where kindler and gentler breezes linger, a happy and friendly isle in the midst of the oft-turbulent fanon sea. We actively encourage our shipmates and others to explore and participate in the rest of the fandom. Here you will find a haven for H/Hr shippers, a safe harbor that holds a directory to the best in H/Hr fanfiction, fanart, and pumpkin products, as well as intelligent discussion of all issues pertaining to their favorite pairing. We hope that they will not stop here permanently but rather move on to the rest of the fandom, returning here whenever they are in the need of a bit of H/Hr revelry or contemplation. Additionally, we wish to give H/Hr shippers incentives and outlets for service. Many on our ship work quietly behind the scenes in every corner of the fandom. Thus, we have created the Pumpkin Awards, where shipmates can nominate non-moderators to be featured every month. We also have designated an outreach project for each month of the calendar year, where H/H shippers and our friends may contribute time, money, and other resources to real world, twenty- first century humanitarian issues such as the fights against hunger, breast cancer, world AIDS, and our disappearing rainforest. This site is for you, shipmates, and by extension, for the entire Harry Potter fandom. The pumpkin-minded do so much for the fandom as a whole... it is time that we have a place to celebrate ourselves and to say "well done." It is our hope to build a sense of community amongst Harry/Hermione shippers ? so that they will know that they are not alone. Schnomps, love, and pumpkin pie always! This sight won't focus on ships or any particular kind of fic. I know this isn't the first HP site out there, and I know it won't be the last, but I thought I'd contribute what I could to the HP community. When I entered the community, I found it hard to find beta readers in one place. I also found it EXTREMELY hard to find one place where all the standard links could be found that every HP fan should have bookmarked. I found libraries full of useful background help, and I found libraries full good fanfiction sites, but nothing really focusing on how to write good HP stories other than the very useful tips I found on fictionalley. When it's finished, I'm hoping to make this into a beta-reading center. Also, I know that in the Buffy community there are the Halo Awards for excellence in fanfic, and I know in the Xphile community there are the Spooky Awards for excellence in fanfic, but I haven't been able to find an equivilant for the HP community. If there is one, please point me, and I'd be your personal house elf forever! If not, I'd love to organize one. The name for the awards is called the House Cup. Also, I haven't found any automated archives to date aside from fanfiction.net. If there are any, could someone please point me? If not, it might be fun to start one up. Any help/advice you could offer would be EXTREMELY useful. I'm posting here today to tell you, my fellow Potter obsessives, that I have a plan. Not an especially cunning plan, I'll admit...but a plan that could be amazingly, earth-shatteringly, mind-bogglingly cool if it goes well. This is a plan that could make an impact, however small. A plan born of years of being dismissed, of being told that as an adult I couldn't possibly be a "real" fan of Harry Potter. Ha, I say! HA! And considering the title of this group, I think it's safe to say many of you can relate to this particular dilemma. So I've decided to do something about it. The Short: Send a staggeringly huge box of letters to JKR, giving the older fans a chance to represent. Because we big, we bad, and we everywhere. The Long? Go to http://www.theletterbox.org and read all about it! Hope to hear from all of you soon!
