Check out FictionAlley's Be Timely! Holiday Season Challenge at
http://www.fictionalley.org//fictionalleypark/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=199
(you may have to cut & paste that if Yahoo broke it up).

This holiday season, the challenge involves songs. Your objective is
to work at least a line (anywhere between five and thirty words) of at
least one song - and no more than five songs - somewhere into your
challenge.

The trick is, the song had to have been released in the same calendar
year in which the story takes place; for purposes of this Challenge,
we are using the timeline from The Lexicon. We recommend using the
links at the bottom of this post -
http://www.fictionalley.org/fictionalleypark/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1165431
- to see what songs were out in each year since the 50s.

More than one person can use any particular song title for their
challenge entry and you can use the title any way you want, except as
the title (or at least, as the story's title only). The bit from the
song needs to be part of the story itself - just be sure to fill in
the bit of the template where you name the song you're referring to
and provide the artist's name! You don't need to name the lyricist,
but you certainly can if you want to.

Minimum word count is 90 words; maximum is 600. There will be one
prize for the most creative use of the lyrics, and one prize for the
most humorous use of the lyrics. Three runners-up in each category
will receive something from FA's grab bag of promotional stuff we've
been sent this year.

Good luck!

Heidi
