All are welcome, from newbie fans to hardcore obsessors. TTB is suitable for all ages, though we do have some specially- accessible "Overage Wizards" Forums. The idea for Through The Barrier actually happened quite by accident. It started as a joke actually and before we could blink, just snowballed from there. "Why another HP Board?" you might ask. We are aware that there are a lot of HP boards out there and several are of excellent quality. Each of us has a different reason for starting and joining this project. In the end we've found the whole thing to be a lot of fun and that's the biggest reason of all. Nothing complex is required to join in the TTB fun. If you have a computer, can type and click on things, you'll have no problems. :) Visit us here: http://www.through-the-barrier.com Hope to see you soon! Write three ficlets about a total of three events and/or three moments that never happened to a character but, had they happened, would have changed his or her life forever. Each ficlet can be no more than 200 words, which is a double- drabble, but it can be shorter. You can write about any character you choose, but all three ficlets must be about the same character. At least one of the ficlets must take place on February 29, and for the purpose of this challenge, in the wizarding world, the day of February 29 must mean something special to the wizarding world - perhaps it's a day where everything is the opposite from what it normally is, or it's a day where places that are normally unplottable (think Atlantis or Brigadoon) are suddenly accessable, or perhaps it's the one day when centaurs help witches and wizards - be creative! Message-ID: Hello all, My name is Subhash and I am here to announce about a new group which I have started. To describe my group in two words, what I can say is 'Severus Snape'. Five books have been completed, five whole years at Hogwarts have passed but this man still remains the most mysterious character in Harry Potter Series. His actions, his behaviour, his past and everything which we want to know more than anything still remains as 'secret'. 'Secret' and 'Severus' do walk together. This group is just an effort to solve those questions which remain unanswered, to reveal the past which remains as mysterious as Severus Snape, to uncover the real face which is hidden, which is lost somewhere between good Severus Snape and bad Severus Snape. To know Severus Snape, we need to answer some questions. The answers to those questions can only bring us near to reality. What I want from you all is the answer to those questions. One doesn't need to join my group to answer those questions. It is an open discussion forum wherein anyone can post messages to my group without joining the group. I'll be more happy to receive, read and analyse your answers. After receiving your answers, a conclusion will be drawn based on the answers that you all have given. It is as simple as that. Right now I am giving you the questions. If you are interested, please answer at least one of them at send it to : questofseverus@ yahoogroups.com Don't forget to write question no. or the question itself in the subject of your post. Here are the questions: - 1) Where did Snape go at the end of GOF on Dumbledore's orders? 2) Why Fudge didn't believe Snape and the fact that Lord had returned when Snape showed him the burnt Dark Mark? 3) What is that which makes Dumbledore to trust Snape fully? 4) Why do you think Lily and Snape were related in some manner or the other? 5) Severus Snape is an excellent potion maker. He is the potion master at Hogwarts. Do you think Snape's earlier job as a death eater was related to potions to great extent ? 6 )Do you think his new job for the Order is related to potions to great extent ? 7) Do you think Snape is a member of pure wizarding family or is he muggleborn? 8) Does it matter for Snape for being either pureblood or muggleborn in some context ? 9) Do you think Snape's hatred and loathing of highest level towards Harry is just because of Snape's hatred towards Harry's father? Can there be other reason(s) ? 10) Why do you think Voldemort referred to Snape in his speech to Death Eaters as 'the one who has left me forever' insted of 'the one who has betrayed me' ? 11) Do you always see Phineas Nigellus in Severus Snape ? 12) Where do you think Snape lies; good or bad or somewhere in between ? 13) Do you think Dumbledore trusts Snape more than any other member of the order? Give reasons. 14) Why do you think Hermione is always confident in saying that Snape is on a good side ? 15) Do you think Hermione has figured out the Snape's secret on her own but she is not telling anyone on Dumbledore's word? 16) Do you think Snape is spying on Harry inside Hogwarts on Dumbledore's orders? 17) Do you think Snape is related or represents a community or a wizard kind? (e.g. Vampire etc.) 18) Do you think Snape will rejoin his master in the end? if Yes, Why? If No, Why? Thank you all for your patience. Hope you'll post your valuable opinion. Have a nice day ahead. Message-ID: About about my fic.... The Fairy Prophecy The main character is a girl named Sam. Sam's father is an Elf and her mother, who died during child birth was a Fairy. Sam was raised by Albus Dumbledore's cousin Jo Dumbledore. Albus visits monthly for her entire life and she calls him Uncle. He thinks of her as his daughter. Her father has been severely depressed ever since losing his wife, Isabella. He forbids Sam to ever go out or learn about the Fairy ways. Sam is now in her Seventh year at Hogwarts. She is an excellent student, but very much a loner. As her seventeenth birthday approaches, strange things start happening. People are starting to notice her, including Harry Potter, who she has loved since the moment she saw him. He actually seems quite interested in her this year, to her disbelief. Draco Malfoy has also, definitely noticed her this year...this is all so unbelievable to Sam. Even more astonishing, are the feelings that she is discovering for her Potions Master, Severus Snape.... Excerpt from Chap 2: She gathered up her stuff and walked across the courtyard. She got about half way to the castle when the world went fuzzy. Her knees went weak, she stumbled and had to grab onto a nearby bench to keep from falling. She tried to focus her eyes. She spotted a dark figure in the doorway. She summoned all the strength she could muster and took a step toward the door. She could see the hazy person approaching her rapidly as she fell. She was expecting to hit the cold, hard floor, but instead she suddenly found herself cradled in the arms of---someone. She squeezed her eyes shut for a second. "Sam, what happened? Are you alright?" came the voice of Professor Snape. Her eyes flew open. What had happened? she wondered. Her vision was clear now, but she thought she must be hearing things. Did Professor Snape just call her Sam? She stared at him, unable to divert her eyes from his. He repeated "Are you alright?" She simply nodded. "You should come to my office. I can brew up something that will help. Can you walk?" Sam nodded again. He helped her stand. She took two steps and stumbled again. Professor Snape put his arm around her shoulders and said in a kind voice "Lean on me, it's alright." She did as she was told. She rested her head on his chest. He was so warm. His arm felt so strong. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheFairyProphecy/ ~Samantha~ I don't know if the link will work...if not just copy and paste it. :) From jeff at ... The announcement was made after Beyond Boundaries Travel, the fan-created group's operating tour company, secured the deal this week with the West Coast Railway Company, the train's owner. The locomotive #5972 doubles as the celluloid version of the "Hogwarts Express" and is being put into service expressly at the request of HP Fan Trips while on exhibit in York for the National Railway Museum's "Rail 200" extravaganza, celebrating 200 years of railways. Trip-goers will have private carriages just like the ones used in the films, with access to a candy trolly and other goodies during the ride. "We're extremely excited to be able to offer this to the Harry Potter fans who will be coming on the first of what we hope is many HP Fan Trips operated by Beyond Boundaries Travel," said Jeff Guillaume, one of the group's organizers. "Only the people on this trip will be able to say they've ridden on the actual Hogwarts Express train seen in the Harry Potter movies." An immersive week-long excursion through the United Kingdom, centered around the film debut of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," awaits participants who have until March 31, 2004 to book their reservations. Actor Chris Rankin, who portrays Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's head boy Percy Weasley in the movie, will accompany travelers for an entire weekend as they trek through London, feast at a Great Hall-style gathering, and watch a "Quidditch" match created exclusively for the tour by USA Team Handball, a member of the United States Olympic Committee. (This is the first of three special announcements that will be made through the end of March. The tour, which celebrates the history of wizards, fantasy, and magical creatures using world-class storytellers and ingenious activities, is developed in cooperation with Visit Britain, the official British Tourist Authority, and commences on June 1, 2004.)
