Very realistic & loads of fun! Hogwartsmagic.com is home to RP boards for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, The Wizarding World, Beauxbatons Academy, Durmstrang Institute, and the Rivals & Kingdoms Medieval Wizarding World RP boards. Danger and excitement is always present at the Wizarding World board, where Lord Voldemort and his minions battle Dumbledore and his supporters for control of the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts, and the Wizarding World. We are currently seeking a few good professors and always welcome new Ministry staff, students, and wizards and witches from all walks of life. Our third school year officially started September the 1st, 2004, and we are accepting new members to our already active site to add to the fun. We also have countless jobs and many canon characters open for both students and adult characters in the Wizarding World and at Hogwarts. Events such as the Start of Year Feast, Halloween Feast, Yule Ball, etc... will be held in order of the school year, and we follow a timeline for more realistic experience. This is an immersed environment perfect for serious RPers and the beginner who wishes to improve their writing skills. The timeline is set approximately 7 years after Harry has graduated from Hogwarts - the year is 2005. Some characters remain at the school on staff, such as Filch, and Hagrid. Lord Voldemort is still on the loose with his Death Eaters plotting horrible events, and the killing and danger is worse than ever! Minister of Magic Dumbledore has just returned after being reported dead and missing for the past 5 months. The Minister to replace Albus gave the Death Eaters free reign in order to end the war, and Lucius Malfoy was been named Headmaster of Hogwarts School, banning any new first year Muggle- borns from entering and threatening to snap the wands of anyone not born a pureblood while they try to pass new Anti-Muggle Legislation. The Wizarding World was in a panic... but then, unexpectedly Dumbledore returned! Join us to unravel the mystery and undo the wrongs done under the Death Eater regime. Students are preparing for the Valentine's Day Celebration. All new students who apply will be in year 2, 3, 5, or 7. We have some positions open for new prefects and have an active Head Boy and Head Girl. There are over 13 classes including electives to choose from and 7th years can apply to be Teaching Assistants in their favorite subjects. Aurors and the Ministry's Most Wanted criminals are battling it out in the Wizarding World, and the Order of the Phoenix is working hard to rid the world of Voldemort and foil his plans. Hitwizards and Aurors are out on the streets seeking criminals in order to bring them to justice. Hogwartsmagic.com Home Page: http://hogwartsmagic.com/home.htm To join our site, simply register at the Hogwarts RP site and read the RP Guidelines and FAQ. You will find lists of positions available in the Records & Enrollment area and can get an idea of who the other characters are. Feel free to browse the list of canon characters available or create your own by posting a bio in the thread that suits their role. You can apply to be a new Death Eater, Order Member, Shopkeeper, Healer, Ministry of Magic Staff and more. Please be aware that we are a realistic RP and therefore allow only characters that fit seamlessly into the HP universe. Message-ID: Just wanted to help spread some good news. Many people have used AdultFanFiction.net for quite some time for all sorts of fanfictions from a huge variety of genres. Many of us have lately started to `abandon' the site because of numerous problems with formatting, garbling of text of our stories as they moved servers, trolls, plagiarists, etc. I am not a moderator or an owner of this site in any way. I am an author there, and I am delighted to say that they are undergoing a huge overhaul, with many moderators now helping the site owner so that it is not one person trying to do all the work herself. They have been combing the site to get rid of the problems and be more accessible to the users. They have even created a Yahoo group to address problems and questions quickly?my question was dealt with in less than six hours. Here is a message posted by one of the Moderators to another Yahoo group to which I belong. I'm posting this to all my relevant groups so that more people can have their problems sorted out and know that AFF.net is once again going to be a good place to go for your fanfictions. The message: ```````````````````````` "If anyone is having an issue with their stories at the AFF site, please join the AFFProblems list at Yahoo, we promise personalized attention. We have sections built into our database for us to go and review on a daily basis which problems to tackle first. *and yes they are addressing the issue of the 'garbling' that went on when they changed servers* That will take time to sort out. If anyone has an issue of stolen fictions, please provide us with links and publish dates to your original story, and the links to the offending writer. We do investigate each case, give the offending writer an opportunity to respond and then take action as required. We've bounced off about 6 Plague offenders and several Trolls on the list already (guys that post one word or line under their story heading) If anyone sees this kind of thing going on, please report it to us as soon as possible.. Thanks for the soapbox time ...:) Here's the link for the Problems: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/affprobs/ And a link for the general AFF news. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AdultFanFictionNet/ " ``````````````````````````````````` Yay! Kudos to AFF.net! Message-ID: How would you like fame? Prestige? How about adoring fans throwing big piles of money at your feet, waiting with bated breath to hear the first words of your masterpiece? Okay, so we can't promise thousands of fans, a red carpet, or money. But we CAN promise an opportunity to share your fanfic work with a wider audience. This is YOUR big chance to submit material to the upcoming The Witching Hour conference in Salem, MA, October 6-10, 2005. I'm the coordinator for the Author Fanfic Readings, and I can tell you that we need some good people! So this is a general call for author submissions. FAQ: Where do I submit? www.witchinghour.org/submissions When do I submit? The deadline is May 15th. When will I know for sure if I'm going to get to present? June 15th. How long do I get? Either 25 or 55 minutes. YOU decide which, and ask for either time slot when you submit. How much time is there for author readings, overall? A lot! As of now, there's twenty hours?Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night. Do I have to just read the whole time? Not necessarily, no. You can read part of the time and take questions the rest of the time. You can read and then talk about your concept of the characters in your fic. You can take do other things, but there are specific rules for some of them, so be sure to ask. You can just talk about your fic. You can even have a fic signing! Can I team up with other authors? Yes. You may want to have a small "round table" reading with other authors. You may want to arrange your own use of the time with the help of other authors (all of you answering questions, dressing up like your fanfic characters, playing word games with the audience, or doing something that we can't even imagine!) Do I have to actually be at The Witching Hour? You do have to actually be going to TWH. You could submit your material and then have a friend read it if you absolutely HATE public speaking but LOVE the idea of your fanfic being read. But then you do have to take questions, comments, and remarks from the audience. So what are you waiting for?? Go ahead and submit! It'll be like a gazillion reviews, all rolled up into one. Guaranteed warm fuzzy feeling. :) Again, that submissions address is: www.witchinghour.org/submissions For more info, email me at: Anise_leinen at ... (2) Sold out packages (3) What is HP Fan Trips? Official site: http://www.hpfantrips.com/ ===== * Fifty (50) "Hogwarts Express" train tickets on sale now! We have decided at this time to release fifty (50) seats on HP Fan Trips' exclusive ride on #5972 Olton Hall, which portrays the real-life "Hogwarts Express" train in Warner Bros.' "Harry Potter" films. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and cost $199. Included is a day-long adventure such as Harry and his schoolmates would experience on their way to Hogwarts. We'll be traveling from Oxford through the gorgeous Lake District up to Carlisle, and back. Activities on the train may include tea parties, special games, storytelling (by a professional performer) and discussions with your fellow fans. This incredible offer is best suited for fans that live in the United Kingdom or are visiting there already. As we expect these tickets to sell out faster than a Firebolt, you can always guarantee yourself a seat by booking any of the HP Fan Trips 2005 tour packages. Each one includes the train ride. Visit http://www.hpfantrips.com/2005/hogwarts-express/ for more information! ===== * Sold out The following 2005 packages have reached their maximum of 42 participants each, and are now sold out: + Scotland Gold + Weekend Based on current numbers, the next to go will be Scotland Silver (just a few spots left) followed by London/Oxford Gold. Keep in mind the only significant difference between the package levels is the choice of hotels and other minor operational changes. The main reason they are split is so each group can be managed and moved about more effectively. (Can you imagine trying to coordinate cross-country travel for over 300 guests without Floo powder?) ===== * What is HP Fan Trips? More accurately, what is it not? It's not just another see-the-sights London tour with "Harry Potter" slapped on it. HP Fan Trips was created from the ground up by enthusiastic fans. We go places and do things no other group can offer. From our exclusive Hogwarts Express train ride to specially-crafted and professionally-guided tours of London, Oxford, Edinburgh and more, HP Fan Trips is the ultimate adventure for Harry Potter fans. ===== Visit HP Fan Trips online: http://www.hpfantrips.com/ Discussion group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hpfantrips-friends From coriolan at coriolan_cmc.yahoo.invalid Tue Mar 29 12:47:11 2005 From: coriolan at coriolan_cmc.yahoo.invalid (Caius Marcius) Date: Tue, 29 Mar 2005 12:47:11 -0000 Subject: Harry Potter Filks: Tribute to John Kusalavage Message-ID: Harry Potter Filks was updated today with 48 new filks, including filks by Ginger, Murasaki, Jason LeBouef, Pippin, the Final Stillness of Saturn, Red Scharlach, and a near dozen pre-OOP filks from Annie Llewellyn.
