How would you like fame? Prestige? How about adoring
fans throwing big piles of money at your feet, waiting with bated
breath to hear the first words of your masterpiece?
Okay, so we can't promise thousands of fans, a red carpet, or money.
But we CAN promise an opportunity to share your fanfic work with a
wider audience. This is YOUR big chance to submit material to the
upcoming The Witching Hour conference in Salem, MA, October 6-10,
2005.
I'm the coordinator for the Author Fanfic
Readings, and I can tell you that we need some good
people! So this is a general call for author
submissions.
FAQ:
Where do I submit?
www.witchinghour.org/submissions
When do I submit?
The deadline is May 15th.
When will I know for sure if I'm going to get to
present?
June 15th.
How long do I get?
Either 25 or 55 minutes. YOU decide which, and ask for either time
slot when you submit.
How much time is there for author readings, overall?
A lot! As of now, there's twenty hoursThursday night, Friday night,
Saturday night,and Sunday night.
Do I have to just read the whole time?
Not necessarily, no. You can read part of the time and
take questions the rest of the time. You can read and
then talk about your concept of the characters in your
fic. You can take do other things, but there are specific rules for
some of them, so be sure to ask. You can just
talk about your fic. You can even have a fic signing!
Can I team up with other authors?
Yes. You may want to have a small "round table"
reading with other authors. You may want to arrange
your own use of the time with the help of other
authors (all of you answering questions, dressing up
like your fanfic characters, playing word games with
the audience, or doing something that we can't even
imagine!)
Do I have to actually be at The Witching Hour?
You do have to actually be going to TWH. You could submit your
material and then have a friend read it if you absolutely HATE public
speaking but LOVE the idea of your fanfic being read. But then you
do have to take questions, comments, and remarks from the audience.
So what are you waiting for?? Go ahead and submit!
It'll be like a gazillion reviews, all rolled up into
one. Guaranteed warm fuzzy feeling. :)
