chat sessions

I am sure this has come up before, but I just can't find the info I 
am looking for, so here goes again:
I have come across a batch of posts transcribing a Scholastic chat 
session, followed by a large number of comments. I thought the 
transcripts might be worth saving (or not?), so I marked them 4.5 for 
the time being. What is the general policy? And how about the 
comments? Should they be coded for every topic that comes up? That 
seems overdoing it a bit...
