Have I missed something important?

I've been short of time over the past few days and have tended to do a 
quick scans on the messages. Maybe I've been too cavalier in my 
readings.
I  did read Paul's post listing various options re: servers etc. but as 
a technological barbarian most of it went over my head.
What's  happening from the 7th - 9th? I was hoping  to get stuck in 
over this coming weekend.
Can it be that my keyboard will be torn from my (un)resisting
fingers?
