I'm half-way through "How Mumbo-Jumbo Conquered the World" by Francis 
Wheen; if you haven't already read it, I think you'd like it.

Back in Africa again, and there's another bloody murder by witchcraft 
trial in the village at the moment. It's ever so depressing, and the 
poor old madwoman that they blame strange deaths on has confessed 
again.
