Ok, I've gone through 3.8.4.4 and have a query for the group: Given
the apparent screw-up with the order of victims expelled from Voldy's
wand in the American(?) edition, much of the early discussion is
effectively attempting to deal with this mistake. Should we regard
these posts as unfortunately superfluous? Eg 1697, 3286 and similar
posts in the charmingly disordered list the catalogue gave me. Its
theorizing based on error. By 5690 someone smells a rat and 6230
confirms it. 6498 stirs it all up again (i see dot has left a review
coding note on it), and things begin to be less about canon than a
metadiscussion. Special note is 12473 about possible uses of PI that I
should have picked up on but am too woolly to have noticed. I am
tempted to mark 25854 a Fantastic Post in light of later canon. Except
for some minor additions here and there (including 1.2.4 to 53179 for
bboyd's audacious claim that the whole harry/voldemort thing is
another JKR mistake), otherwise I declare 3.8.4.4 Done. Let me know if
this is ok and I'll tick it off the list.
ditto 3.8.4.5 and 3.8.4.6 they speak for themselves. Ooh that was easy...

PS i really am a vim/vi user. Even on Mac OS X I use it on the commandline.

Emacs vs. Vi flamewars are a pointless waste of time. Vi is the best
