I had an email from Tim Regan saying he thinks it would be possible to put the catalogue up as is, so I am going to pursue that with him and Paul to see if we can get it done in time for The End. xxC From arrowsmithbt at btconnect.com Fri Jun 1 13:17:23 2007 From: arrowsmithbt at btconnect.com (arrowsmithbt) Date: Fri, 01 Jun 2007 13:17:23 -0000 Subject: ARE WE DONE?! But no, we're due a no-holds-barred, knock-down, drag-out bunfight over whether Voldy is a post-modernist re-incarnation of Nietzsche's 'Superman' or JKR is making an allusion to Freud's 'Thanatos' death instinct from the feminist viewpoint. It all depends on what DD meant by his 'gleam'. Er, I mean...... hello, Miss. Let's see... I don't think DD is done. Also, last I recall, Dot was going to finish up a few of the beasts, but I don't imagine those particular categories are too hairy in any case. I had recently made a good start in culling some more of the excess out of the still distended Harry's Character cat. I can try to finish that up this weekend. But yeah, let's get this thing out there! (I can speed it up a little knowing we're just > trying to get something up.) Debbie: Erm. I can't seem to get into the catalogue right now. My computer shows a big blank when you get to the "click on who you are" screen. But maybe that's my computer at work, since only the old dinosaur has any internet access, and it's not working well at the moment. As for progress, Snape is on re-review. I don't know how much Jen is culling (she may have a much bigger machete than I), but I did not remove a great deal from the last subcat I re-reviewed. So, I'm willing to say that if I don't get my internet access fixed (something that is very high on my current agenda), we could probably live with Snape the way it is. Aren't we going to have a celebration when we finish? With the finest single-malt whisky and Swiss chocolates? Debbie who can't live without cataloguing and will be ready to start cataloguing OOP posts in the fall (come to think of it, she'll probably be cataloguing DH in the nursing home) From stevejjen at earthlink.net Mon Jun 4 16:13:40 2007 From: stevejjen at earthlink.net (Jen Reese) Date: Mon, 04 Jun 2007 16:13:40 -0000 Subject: ARE WE DONE?! I got an accelerator service upgrade I don't know what the heck I'm talking about but it's supposed to make it faster. It really does work, but last weekend was spent figuring out how to get it running. First it wouldn't let me in at all, and then it blocked popups, including when we go to view the 40 posts at a time, plus it wouldn't let me go from one set of 40 to the next. But I got it all worked out, and this weekend, with my faster connection, I did about 2 weeks worth of work. It is so much faster! Imagine- it once took about 2-3 minutes to go from finishing coding one post until the next one appeared, now it's seconds! It used to take several minutes for those pages of 40 to appear, now it's less than 15 seconds! Anyway, I have 266 posts left to be put in their right spots. They've been sorted, so it's just putting them in place. I should be done within a week. One little thing: I don't need a category for relationship with Lily. All the posts that could go there either fit in the "related to" category under family, or the "what happened at GH" category. Oh, I can't wait to get this finished! Then summer school and the new book, and then another year of school...and internships. GAAA it's all going so fast! Ginger, who is even typing faster than usual and wonders why. From quigonginger at yahoo.com Tue Jun 19 13:25:00 2007 From: quigonginger at yahoo.com (quigonginger) Date: Tue, 19 Jun 2007 13:25:00 -0000 Subject: LV Message-ID: LV is done. Finished. Over and out. Completed. No more. Let the party begin. At this point, the only comment I have to make is that the psrt that says "powers and plans" is actually housing only posts about his powers. The plans went under agenda. So, for my next trick, I'm going into that review coding section and I'm going to pull out all the posts (at least 100, if memory serves me right) that I put in there when I was doing the shipping categories. I'll also pull out anything that I know for sure what to do with. Everything else I'll leave for those who reviewed them. And here I was feeling so guilty to be largely un-nettable and not contributing, but I am relieved nonetheless - I agree, and also particularly with Ginger's comment. I am personally over 1100 posts behind on The List and given the ruthless work we did last year to cut things down, unless I'm very much mistaken there'll be few and far between to keep anyway. I suggest a big warning graphic entry to the catalogue: May Be Contagious If Prone To Feelings Of Analysis!! Very proud of the work done so far and hope we are showered with gold or something... Here's to seeing you all on the smaller lists, I can still read _them_. very cold (for victoria) penguin -- Emacs vs. Vi flamewars are a pointless waste of time. Vi is the best
