Prince of Lies in the category list. Is it <BR>> there? <BR>>
<BR>CW: Erm, no. Reason is that it wasn't on the acronym list. Been <BR>>
wondering whether to add it - does anyone have the post ref where it <BR>>
was first mentioned?</FONT></DIV>

cataloguing Harry and Neville as literary <BR>> doubles. Generational

<BR>> comparison? In which case, children's classics..etc</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Except that the point is Harry and Neville as doubles (or mirror images) of
one another. There is no referenceto anyother lit. Any
ideas?</DIV>
<DIV><BR>Carolyn:<BR>> It's this kind of detail which separates MD
enthusiasts from the <BR>> rest. This is still a war of misinformation. The
tiresome boy has <BR>> just demonstrated how vulnerable he is to Voldie's
manipulations, so <BR>> this is absolutely not the moment to go into details
of Neville's <BR>> mother's parentage. It is essential that Harry continues
to believe <BR>> he is the One for Dumbledore's many plans to work
out.<BR>> <BR>> Dumbledore has shown himself quite capable of lying when
he needs to, <BR>> and conveniently in this typically Delphic utterance he
doesn't <BR>> address whether that *was* the reason that Voldemort attacked
the <BR>> Potters before the Longbottoms. All we currently know is that
Voldie <BR>> thinks that a boy born at the end of July will be his nemesis.
<BR>> Through Pettigrew's information, he saw the chance to attack the
<BR>> Potters first. </DIV>

<DIV>We should be having this debate on Main. Stir up some interest in
MD. ;-) </DIV>

<DIV>Actually, I agree with most of this. Everything except the notion
that DD lied to Harry, as it's inconsistent with the rules of engagement -- that
is, the rules of the engagement between JKR and her readers. And the rule,
as I see it, is that Dumbledore does not lie to those on his side. He
withholds information, yes, but he does not outright lie, especially when he's
having those end-of-book tete-a-tetes with Harry. From PS/SS ch. 17:
"'I shall answer your questions unless I have a very good reason not to, in
which case I beg you'll forgive me. I shall not, of course, lie.'"</DIV>

<DIV>Ginger now: I awoke with a start (no idea what I had been dreaming)
and the thought in my head was "What if Alice's maiden name was Lestrange?
Wouldn't that be BANG-y?" Just thought I'd throw that in here.</DIV>
<DIV>;</DIV>
<DIV>Heh! In the post I wrote that prompted the unprounounceable acronym,
I had suggested that Alice was the former Miss Avery. In the post-OOP
world, however, she would have to be Miss Lestrange (or Miss Crouch).</DIV>
