Hi All,

It's not HP related, but this looks interesting for us ...

87 Adèle Geras, Nicolette Jones, Michael Morpurgo and Philip
Pullman
Writing for Children, Writing for Adults?
time: 2 pm
ticket price: £7.50
venue: Oxford Union, St Michael's Street
Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy has been marketedin some
countries for adults, and in others for children. Adèle Geras has
written for children from toddlers to young adults, and has recently
published her first adult novel. Children's Laureate Michael
Morpurgo writes for children, but his subjects have included, most
recently, the execution for cowardice of British soldiers in the
First World War. All three have learnt their craft over decades and
write with a skill and wisdom many first novelists writing for
adults might envy. If language is used no less skilfully in
children's books than in adult books, how do we distinguish the two
genres? And are there reasons to do so? Should there be limits to
the content or style of writing for children? Has our concept of
writing for children changed? The discussion is chaired by Sunday
Times critic Nicolette Jones.

Cheers,

Dumbledad
