Great minds think alike. I was at that sight earlier today! I was
thinking that it could take Hogwarts Express longer than a modern
train to get anywhere, as it seems to be still run on something other
than modern means (coal or steam perhaps?). Magic aside, they seem to
use rather archaic means of doing many things (candles, ink pots,
quills, etc), so it makes sense to me that their train system would be
out of date and slow as well.
