It was an attack by Voldemort, even though Voldemort knew
he couldn't seriously harm Harry, is was his last insult 
heaped upon injury.

There are several incidences where people for what every 
reason pass through a ghost, even with the very benevolent
ghost at Hogwarts, it is an chill and unpleasant experience.

So to have that extreme spiritual evil pass through your body
has to be a horrible experience. To have that pure essence of 
evil pass through your body with great malice would be 
enough to knock anyone out.
