I decided to make it my quest to find out who played James in the film.
Here is my first finding:

However, it doesn't look like the pictures match. The one on the right
is from the movie "Breaking the Waves", in which he played the doctor,

and I think the picture is really of Stellan Skarsgård instead.

What is dismaying is that he appears to be in his '40's and is therefore
wrong wrong wrong for James. IIRC, the doctor in "Breaking the Waves"
wasn't exactly a young man either.
