Hermione and power in the movie

I don't think she was regarding Ron with disgust, exactly, at their first
meeting. Her expression and tone of voice when she said "Pleasure"
suggested to me that she was viewing him with disdain, which is not the
same thing. On the one hand she was looking at Harry Potter, the famous
boy who survived an attack by the Dark Lord and saved all of wizardom.
(And you can see just a little bit of his scar when he takes off his
glasses to look at how she fixed them -- I think that's how she knew who
he was.) On the other hand, she was looking at Ron Weasley, who had dirt
on his nose and was talking to her through a mouth stuffed with candy. I
adore Ron -- he reminds me a great deal of my husband, who is also a
redhead! -- but I don't think his manners were exactly charming at that
moment. Also, he had a rat on his lap, and that wouldn't really make a
fabulous first impression with me either. =)
