Funny, this was what I thought immediately - I don't know if you're
familiar with Terry Pratchett's discworld novels, but the books in
the library of the Unseen University (imagine it like a very weird
version of Hogwarts) are sometimes chained too; and for good reasons,
most of them are not very well behaved.
