Hello :>
I have a guess on why they changed "Forbidden Forest"to the "Dark Forest". We all know that despite the warnings that Dumbledore gives the students about the forest being out of bounds etc...Still, Harry and co. find themselves going there (like for detention). If in the movie, the word Forbidden was used, then why would Hagrid allow them to go there for detention? It will defeat the purpose of the name "forbidden". And people could get the wrong message from this also by asking, "Hey! If it's alright for Harry and co. to go to the Forbidden forest, then there is nothing really wrong with it being *forbidden* right?" Wrong.
The word "Forbidden" means that no one can enter, and it is illegal etc... "Dark", only means that it is dangerous, scary, and enter at your own risk. So it more or less lessens the impact of the word "Forbidden", but at the same time it brings the message across that a lot of dark creatures are maybe prowling about in the forest, so proper caution and guidance should be advised...That's just my guess. :>
