I think there is no danger that Daniel will become the cash cow of his family.
His parents
both were very successful in their respective jobs and they already lived
in a big house in
one of the posh suburbs of London before and he also went to an expensive
private school.
He somewhere said that the money he gets from the films are put in an account
for his
futher education (university or so). I have not the feeling that his parents
will get "money crazy" and
let him do bad films just to get more money (as was probably the case with
Culkin).

And that his Dad quit his job for being his manager and chaperone is a rather
good idea, as he
is already an agent and knows the business and its dangers. And should Daniel
quit acting later on,
his father can always go back to his former job. It's not like a regular
office job that you give up.
I would rather watch over my own child than let him in the custody of other
chaperones.

Whether a kid ends up with drug problems you can never predict. A lot of
it also depends on the kid
and his personality. Although a lot of my friends tried out smoking and light
drugs when we were teens,
I never even was tempted to try. But I was just strong enough to say that
I don't need this to have fun.
Others are not as strong and get seduced by others. It's a question of self-confidence
and strongness
of character. That's why it's not so important how the parents are, because
there are a lot of drug
addicts who come from perfectly happy and caring families.
