<<<Also, what I found strange about it was that it looked
to me like Harry is sitting in the Gryffindor common
room when he's writing in the diary. I'd have to go
back and look at it more carefully to be sure but
that's the impression I had. Why would the Grey Lady
be in the Gryffidor common room? If I'm not mistaken,
she's the Ravenclaw ghost. I just couldn't help but
wonder why she shows up in two pivotal scenes from two
different movies, the scene where the trio tries to
get in to see Dumbledore and the scene where Harry
discovers the true nature of the diary. It just
strikes me as odd.>>>

That is very interesting indeed. I wonder if Columbus/Kloves had some special insight into the Grey Lady's future involvement in the storyline from JKR herself. Or, is it just C/K wanting to show off the fetching young actress more throughout the movie? Perhaps trying to use sex appeal? Hey, men...here's a character you can (legally) have a crush on!

Then again, she isn't being too sex appeal-ish in the two scenes you mention. She's just sitting and studying (except when she conveniently leaves the table Harry is sitting at as he is corresponding with Tom) and being a typical Ravenclaw.

But I still agree with you, Nicole, that there's something fishy going on here concerning the Grey Lady.

<<<~Nicole, who is with Richelle. I also thought I'd
heard that JKR had made specific reference to the Grey
Lady at some point. Does anyone have any evidence of this?>>>

Only in my mind. I read somewhere on HP Galleries (may it rest in peace) last year an interview with JKR where she tells us that "Grey Lady" is the Ravenclaw ghost's name, and that we met her right before the sorting in book one (when the ghosts come through the walls, frightening the ickle firsties). There is also a passage in...Oh, I need to find it, but it's way over there and that would take so much effort...possibly book one where Harry (maybe with R and H) passes a tall witch in the hallway. I think that is also supposed to be the Grey Lady, but that may be my own interpretation.

I tried looking this interview up on the Goatpad but came up empty. I used Grey Lady, Grey, Lady, Ravenclaw ghost, Ravenclaw, ghost as the search words. I know I read it, Nicole. I just can't find it.

~Lilac~ (Nicole, are you still speaking to me after that TBAY fiasco?)
