Well, I personally think that they *are* talking about the color when they
say he has his mother's eyes, and I myself just ignore that Daniel's eyes
are blue, LOL, but I do know that it is possible that they are talking about
other features, like the shape, or just the way they "look" at other
people...  I have brown/green eyes (depending on what I'm wearing) and my
eyes have always been complimented by perfect strangers, for as long as I
can remember, not because of the color, but because of the shape.  They are
pretty, LOL, even though I feel weird saying so, I do have to admit, they
are my best feature.  And I passed my eye "shape" onto my two boys, ages 5
and 2, who constantly get compliments on their eyes just as I did.  One of
them has bright blue eyes, and the other has grey eyes, but many many people
have commented on how they have "my eyes"...  So it's very possible that the
color won't be important (although I agree with you that the color is likely
to be what the other people are talking about.)
