Me, me, me!
I do!!! I'm a teacher too and I understand exactly what you are
saying! Yours was precisely my idea! If Daniel Radcliffe had
beautiful hazel eyes, as far as the movie was concerned, those
would "be his mother's eyes." I think JKR used the bright green
color in the books as an indicator that his eyes were distinctive.
If you noticed in the Mirror of Erised scene from PS (the book, not
the film), many of his relatives had his green eyes. (Chap. 12) I am
certain if the eye color were that much of an issue, JKR would have
insisted that they CG the color in. As I said previously, Daniel
has wonderfully expressive eyes, and, if I'm not mistaken, his are
the only eyes we're allowed to see close up with that lovely darker
blue 'halo-effect.' This makes them distinctive. And, as far as the
films are concerned, those will be, more than likely, "his mother's
eyes."
The filmmakers have been gracious enough to involve JKR as closely
as she wishes to be. (She has been given creative control, let's not
forget) SHE loved the film, SHE loved Daniel, SHE said nary a word
about the anti-canon (gasp) blue eyes. WE all need to take a few
deep breaths, resign ourselves that the film is not going to be the
book verbatum, let this go, cheer up, and find some other topic to
discuss.
