I have reason to believe they filmed more of the Christmas scene than made it
to the DVD. For one thing, there's a picture on the Harry Potter daily
calendar of Harry (Daniel, not artwork) in his pajamas with a wooden carved
flute with a tag "To Harry, From Hagrid." Now considering they also have
pictures from deleted scenes on the DVD, such as the one with Harry in his
Weasley sweater, I believe there are other deleted scenes not on the DVD.
Which gives me hope for a future special edition DVD or some such thing.
Especially since they deleted the scene showing Harry wearing his sweater, they
may also have deleted the scene where he actually got the sweater, as it was
nonvital information, and the film did get rather long for children. Not for
me, though!

Anyway, that's my take on the matter.

Felicia! I know! I feel the same way - that is why that scene is so
special to me. I wish they showed Harry opening more of his
presents, too, like the stuff from Hagrid, Mrs. W, and Hermione. I
think the scene, "I got presents" and Ron saying "yeah" was so well
done. I adored how Mrs. W sent presents to Harry. It's the type of
thing my mom would do! (quick - where are my tissues? )

I hope you wake up on the 12/25 w/a new DVD player under your tree
( or by your bed )so you can watch your Snape bits over and over
again )

On another note - I know this isn't the correct forum, but I just
snuck off and read The Leaky Cauldron (I'm at work, mind) and am so
excited about the mini JK Rowling interview, the courtcase, and the
fact that Book #5 is going to be "GoF" length I can't concentrate on
work! :-)

*seeing* it on screen was so sad and made you realise the poor guy
had never had a decent Christmas. I mean can you imagine no
presents for ten years?? I Really Love Presents and want a working
DVD player for Christmas so my special PS DVD stops freezing when I
look at my Snape bits grrrrrrrrrrr.
