Having seen this scene several times now on video, I would probably 
agree with Richelle. I didn't think it produced nearly as much 'bang 
for the buck' as Kloves/Columbus/WB must have thought it did. 
Besides, if Hermione said she'd read it in a book, it would have to 
be true, wouldn't it?? :-)

My daughter and I will finish re-reading COS tomorrow night, and this 
time through, my first time re-reading COS since seeing the movie, I 
was extremely annoyed by the large variety of instances in which 
Ron's lines were handed to Hermione for, in most cases, no 
discernable reason. Several people have mentioned specific instances 
over the past few months and I can't remember all of them but it 
really did annoy me to see so many of Ron's good lines coming out of 
Hermione's mouth (and I'm a huge fan of Canon-Hermione as well as 
Canon-Ron).
