Shrieking Shack

Something that's bothered me since I read the Newsweek article is the
beginning of the second paragraph (I think it's the second).  It reads
something like "...over the shrieking of the shack in the background..."

Why is the Shrieking Shack shrieking?  Isn't what we come to find out about
the Shack is that Lupin's transformations (and subsequent crying out and
howling in pain) gave the Shack its repuation?  The Shack doesn't shriek on
it's own.

I hope they haven't screwed it up.
