We don't know that they've cut the Firebolt. It's far more likely that the journalist wanted a cute way to say that Daniel will be in the 4th movie and, not having read the book, 
just assumed that Harry wouldn't be changing brooms. 

We've got another TEN MONTHS before the movie comes out. I fear some fans are starting to panic too early. ;-)
