I say this because as good as CoS was, it was a poorly cut/edited
movie with substandard sound (did you really think Dobby was crying
loudly at Privet Drive?) and several scenes where the direction was
obviously at fault in how the actors played the part (consider Wood's
reaction to the match being cancelled -- underplayed?). I suspect
that this had something to do with the change of directors.

Me: But it was Columbus who directed CoS, there was no change in
directors until PoA, so the only person to blame (re direction) is
him.

If PoA fails, no matter how good GoF turns out (and let's be real, if
PoA fails there'll be less money in making GoF) it won't do as well
and the 'magic' will seem to be over.

Me: I don't think PoA will fail to make money, in fact I think it's
one of the better bks in the series (to date). I mean if any of the
additional HP movies make 600 million its still a hit – doing much
better than many movies out there.

On the other hand, if the man who must have some influence over the
young actors keeps saying maybe they won't want to return perhaps
they'll begin to prick at the idea themselves, and let's face it a
Harry Potter movie without the Trio just won't work.

Me: I don't honestly believe that Columbus has that much influence
over the kids, they may ask his opinion but I think it's their
families who will help them decided if they will carry on (Dan has
said he will be around for #4), CC was voicing his opinion when he
stated that the kids should stop after #3 - I think he was also doing
this b/c he wanted to let fans know that sometime down the line the
cast may change & that we should be ready for it.
