Mad-eye is one of my favorite characters, and I have enjoyed skimming
the posts to see who looked good to me. For some reason, none of
them...felt right to me.
So I was thinking...thinking..............errrrr...thinking (this is
hard)! Personally, I think the gentleman who plays Filch in the would
have been PERFECT - if I were casting, I would have to use a time-
turner and re-cast the roles. But I digress.
So here is my (don't get mad!) opinion:
Sean Connery - too famous. He would steal the thunder from the rest
of the cast.
Patrick Stewart - too handsome. Mad-eye can't be the hottest man in
the movie, it would just be weird.
Billy Connelly....hmm, that's a good one. Can he drop the accent for
the role?
Ian McKellan - er, he's probably too busy.
Anthony Hopkins - too cliche. He'll frighten the children.
Bob Hoskins - not old enough, and a bit too short.
which leads my to my two suggestions (I love them both so much, I
can't decide - and feel free to shoot'em down if you disagree:-) )
(1) Malcolm McDowell. He's old enough, he's one of the creepiest men
on the planet, amd his career could use a bit of a boost.
or...
(2) Jeremy Irons!!! Scary, grizzled, and very intimidating. I can
TOTALLY see him growling "Constant Vigilance!"
well, those are my two knuts, it felt good to get that off my chest.
