Well, I thought they were good. Not well made, though, which is I think your intention. The kids acting left a lot to be desired in the first film, but I'll get back to that in a minute. But the improvement in the acting of Daniel and Rupert to the second movie was quite good. Personally, I still thought Emma looked very much as though she were acting, it didn't flow well with her. Fortunately it can pass sometimes because of the way Hermione is. But it's still noticeable.
Now, as for the acting ability or lack thereof in the first film, I put all of that blame on Chris Columbus. True, Rupert and Emma had never acted in a movie, so that might have been a bit tough. I read something somewhere about having trouble keeping Rupert from looking at the cameras in the first film. Daniel had acted in David Copperfield (and Tailor of Panama, but that was such a small part) and did a very good job. He was extremely believeable. Any acting problems coming from him in my mind were due to Chris Columbus not getting it out properly. There are times when he was stiff, not relaxed as should be the case. That sort of thing.
The flow in both movies was terrible. The choppiness between scenes and so on. What amuses me greatly is the trouble they went to filming the scene of Harry and Hedwig in the snow to show passing of time, yet nothing else ever indicated time passing, so why bother?
So basically, I loved the kids, loved the adult actors in both movies, but they were not well made movies.
