I guess he's never seen the movie or he would understand exactly where his brilliant music fits in.
My son is in television production and he tells me that for all of the people working in the background, a lot of them have no idea how their work is being used, ie carpentry, costumes and obviously even the music. Maybe they should be showing the finished product to the crew as part of their job, so they know exactly where their indivual efforts fit into the finished product. Then in future people like Mr Williams would be able to properly refer to their work when it's being presented.
