They could easily have Quidditch without Wood--there is nothing in 
the movies to tell us his age, so say he was a 7th year in CoS 
(instead of PoA) and presto, Quidditch sans Oliver.

Yes they could do that and I hope they totally cut all the scenes of Oliver!
