Same here.

I always pictured him as "shabby" as well.
I was thinking threadbare robes, patched
up suitcases and a too thin frame.

Of course, after being at Hogwarts for
awhile the houseelves would have fattened
him up and a steady paycheck would improve
his warddrobe, but still I want his
"introduction" to show a "down-on-his-luck"
wizard.

So far, the stills show him at Hogwarts not
on the Express, so I still have hope for a
"shabby" Lupin, but right now it is a slim
one.

I do think the stills we've seen so far are
possibly just bad shots. Plus, I know from
experience that a still doesn't do justice
to the real performance, so I'm not too
worried.

I think "vincentjh" already mentioned that
he looked like "one of those poor intellectures
from late 19th century (or early 20th)".

The brief look I got at him from the trailer
seems to lean towards this.

Since so much of the Wizarding World's
look/style has been taken from that period,
I guess it kind of fits to interpret his
character that way.
