I suppose it might, on an unconscious level. Your example with Fawkes'
"ashtray" was a good one. Very perceptive. You are right that Rowling
has a strong vivid and detaled image of her world in her mind, judging
from what she had told us - but she can't have worked out every single
detail beforehand. And film is such a strong medium, the images really
get to us. She says that many of the sets in the film are close to how
things have looked in her head - that, in itself, could make her open
for influences from the film. As I said, unconsciously, I can't
believe she would choose to accomodate her descriptions in the books
to the films. Also she and Kloves have communicated a lot by
e-mail,judging from the dvd interview, usually it is him asking her
questions, but I suppose that even this could have an influence, as he
might make her think about things she otherwise wouldn't have. In a
creative process it is impossible to entirely shut out influences from
the outside world, and with someone so interested and curious and
desperate for information as Kloves, and with images so compelling and
vivid as in the films, I suppose some influence is inevitable.
