The DA, (was: Re: Calling the Cattle)

Hi everyone, this is my first post to the movie list.  It's not 
surprising (to me, anyway) that my  first post to the movie list is 
on a subject that very easily belongs over on the main list where I 
spend most of my time hanging out. :-)

The main point of the DA was not that it was a secret, but that is 
was a means for the students to really learn DADA.  Umbridge being 
gone does not change the fact that the Hogwarts students need to 
learn DADA.  And just because she's gone does not mean that they'll 
end up with a competent and not-evil DADA teacher.  They've only had 
one of those (unless you believe Lupin is Evil... <g>) in the five 
years Harry's been there.  Voldemort is back and they can't be 
messing around with ineffective teaching in this particular 
subject.  

Even if they have a competent DADA professor in sixth year, the DA 
should still survive because it does bring the students of the 
Hogwarts houses closer together, minus the Slytherins at this 
point.  It encourages friendship, cooperation, and trust of their 
fellow students.  I don't see any reason why Dumbledore wouldn't 
want it to continue, and I don't see any reason why the students 
would want to stop, either.  

I'm not going near the "good Slytherin" topic tonight.  I'm much too 
tired.  But I just want to say that what Lucius wants Draco to do at 
this point is irrelevant as he is in Azkaban.  This is not likely to 
remain the case, but there it is.
