One of the problems with her outfit is that it dates
the movie. Hermione's clothes are clearly 2003 when
the story really takes place in 1993. My sister was
12 in 1993 and she wouldn't have been caught dead in
pink. And though zip up hoodies are stylish now (I own
about 5) they were standard gym/track clothes then.
The whole hip-huggers thing didn't become popular
until the late 90s(like 1999 and 2000). As people have
said, the first two movies are sort of timeless
because everyone wears uniform, robes or generic (aka,
non-trendy clothes). By putting Hermione in trendy
clothing it not only misfits Hermione's character and
dates the movie. (As does Harry's clothing and a
number of Hermione's other outfits, but I just won't
go there now).
