Why does Malfoy call her a mudblood? I thought a mudblood was a half-
breed(1/2 muggle/1/2 magic).  

Delurking for a little clarification: part muggle, part magic= half 
blood, and apparently this applies a few generations back since Harry 
is referred to as a halfblood on account of his mother, though a 
witch being of non-magic parentage. A mudblood is always a muggleborn.
