I would have loved to hear commentary, too. Especially now that the
actors are older, I am sure they'd be able to give us more detailed
and in-depth information and interpretation.
One thing I really like about my LotR DVD is that, in addition to
the commetary, they also interviewed the director and writer to
explain why they interpreted certain characters so much differently
from how most of the readers understand them (most notably Faramir).
Although I do not think the change(s) work effectively in terms of
the over-all story-line, I do appreciate knowing why they did what
they did.
I am sure a lot of HP fans are dying to know why Hermione becomes a
superwoman and Ron's brave moments were given to her. I'd even like
to know what Rupert thinks of that - he once said that he loves book
III because lots of things happened to Ron. But in all the post-PoA
interviews, he simply pointed out that Ron/he is taller and his
voice is deeper. Well, there's not much growing for Ron to do in
movie PoA from the script. So he has not much to talk about if the
question is only framed that way. (How has Ron matured? What are the
changes he went through?...etc.)
It's difficult for me and for many HP readers who do not interpret
Ron the way Kloves/Columbus/Cuaron interpret him to think that the
hero's best friend is no more than a comic relieve. He was never a
clown in the books and I have a feeling that he would do something
important down the road. If that does happen, how are the movie
makers going to convince us that Ron the wimpy clown can be hero for
the day?
The changes to Hermione's character also might be problematic later
on when Ginny emerges into a brave, witty, independent young woman
with leader quality. How are they going to differentiate movie Ginny
from movie Hermione, who is, on top of being book smart, also a
brave, assertive, and slightly rebellious leader?

Yes! I hate all the tricky detours. Maybe they should release adult
version DVDs?

They sort of interviewed the Weasleys with the Gryffindors. Already
an improvement, I'd say.

That could really help all us fans to pick out possible clues for
book 6 & 7.
