PoA's awards campaign / Yates = OotP director?

In case you haven't heard yet - the nominations
for the Golden Globes has been announced and
PoA has not received any. Even though PoA is
not a perfect film and awards do not have as
great an impact on the financially already
successful, 'tis too bad. Perhaps they'll have
better luck with the rest of the awards this
season, in particular the Oscars.
Variety had this to say about PoA, in terms of
Golden Globes nominations:
"...none of the films nominated for best
picture is yet a blockbuster. In fact, many of
the film's biggest grosser's were not cited, a
list that ranges from Newmarket's 'The Passion
of the Christ' to Sony's 'Spider-Man 2' to
Warner Bros.' 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner
of Azkaban.'"

Though we still don't have an official
announcement that confirms Yates, here's an
interesting mention in Variety's coverage of
WB's premiere of "Ocean's Twelve" last week
posted Dec. 12:
"Among the guests were Sharon Stone, Prince,
Radha Mitchell and 'Harry Potter' producer
David Heyman and the franchise's new
installment's helmer David Yates."

Then there's this mention in Variety's article
about Richard Curtis producing the Comic Relief
(which unless I'm much mistaken is the same
organization that benefited from the sales of
FB&WtFT and QTtA, incidentally) telethon, also
posted Dec. 12. See note below for more on the
not-HP aspects.
"...[Curtis] has written a BBC TV movie, 'The
Girl in the Cafe,' which David Yates ('State
of Play') will direct before he moves onto the
fifth 'Harry Potter.'"

Y'know, considering that Variety is so widely
read in the industry that such repetition of
misinformation about such a valuable franchise
could not go unnoticed, it sounds like Yates
is already set. In order to maximize the
Oscar mileage to be had from this announcement,
WB may be refraining from officially announcing
the deal until around Dec. 27 when the
nomination ballots for the Oscars are mailed.
I wonder what other announcements may be
synchronized to the rest of the academy awards'
schedule (Jan. 15 nominations polls close,
Feb. 2 final ballots mailed, Feb. 22 final
polls close).
Petra, hoping it's not red herrings she smells
a
n :)
NOTE: According to this article, Curtis and
Comic Relief are part of the campaign to end
global poverty known as "MakePovertyHistory"
in Britain, "The One Campaign" in America,
"No Excuses" in Italy and various other
monikers internationally. Raising this issue
on the world stage is in preparation for the
next G8 summit.
