ADMIN: Virus Messages

Hi, everyone!

I'm posting this for informational purposes, rather than discussion.
(If you'd like to discuss this, better to do so on our Feedback list:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPFGU-Feedback/ )

Over the last month, four members of the Movie list have informed the
list elves that they've received virus-infected messages that are
obstensibly from this list (thanks to those members for letting us
know!).

Watch for messages with "[HPFGU-Movie]Re: Harry and Ginny in the
Chamber" or "[HPFGU-Movie] Postal Codes" from these addresses:
kneazle255@ upload.imagestation.com or cpadgett@ microsoft.com, or
from one of these names: kneazle255 or jeanico2000, with an
attachment. Do not open the attachments; just delete the message.
There most certainly may be other message titles, or sender names or
email addresses, so please be careful.

To clarify, none of the HPfGU groups allow for attachments, so any
regular discussion posts you receive will be safe. If you receive a
message with one of the group tags in the subject header and it
contains an attachment, it is almost definitely a virus message.

Though it should go without saying, I'll say it anyway <g> -- if you
receive a message with an attachment from anyone that you don't know,
or if you receive one unexpectedly from someone you do know, chances
are quite good it's a virus, so do *not* open the attachment. And,
as always, make sure to keep your anti-virus programs updated
regularly, and scan your computer for viruses regularly as well.
